May 14 What is LAYT?The Little Actors Youth Theatre (LAYT), is where young people from aged eleven and upwards can come and work on pieces of theatre which have been especially written for young people. The group meets on a Wednesday night from 5-7 at Neston Cricket Club, CH64.
During the session the young people will work with professional actress Samantha Giblin (who is also the artistic director). They will learn techniques that we help with their performance and that also help with public speaking in general. This includes diction exercises using tongue twisters. All the young people have a chance to perform at fundraising events and also in The National Theatre Connections Programme, which we will participate in next year.
LAYT look at texts as monlogues and also ensemble pieces. Covering such texts as ' SparkleShark' by Philip Ridley. Not only do we use brand new pieces of writing but also some existing texts.
The young people will get a great deal out of the youth theatre. Not only do they have the chance to work with theatre professionals but they also learn some important skills for live. These include; social, communication and literacy. LAYT helps young people to build their confidence and they all have a fantastic time, they work hard but get so much out of it.
If you want to come along and try us out then call: 0151 336 4302 and ask to speak to Samantha.
